Be a nice pest

I talked with a mortgage professional who was very good with his database marketing. He added names over time and developed friendly HTML newsletters to email his clients, acquaintances, and prospects. The keys to his success were a non - threatening, non - salesy informative newsletter and above all CONSISTENCY. One of his clients commented at their last face to face meeting that he was the nicest pest she had ever met.

In database marketing consistency is very much a key. But being helpful in giving relevant or interesting information to the reader (kind of like blogging) is very important. He said he rarely had anyone unsubscribe from the list. That too, shows he's offering something of value and keeping top of mind the company name, the individual's name, and the company's services and contact information.

We all should be so lucky by design to be labeled a nice pest!!

Consistency is tantamount to good business.

I am thinking how to do that with my new blog. If I can post 3-4 times per week then I could send it everyother week. Some real estate and some local things. I am going to do it with a lender that I have that is very successful and merge the data bases. I would like to pick a realtor in an area that I do not work but that is only in the thinking stage.

Many consider this spam as there are so many of these newletters......the database idea is great though.

Gary, I guess there is no such thing as an original idea.  If you visit my site and click through my posts, they are weekly newsletters that I send to agents, prospects, mortgage bankers, etc. Non-salesy, quick, to the point.  Three years ago when I developed the program I wasn't patterning it after any one else. But this works.  It works better than all the glitzy, pre-packaged, formal newsletters that companies try to sell you.  Just be yourself. Talk about what you know and what you see.  The clients love it.

Bill, you make a great point about being a natural, yourself, and telling people about what you know. That makes it so real to your clients.

Gary, I guess not everybody wants to take the time to write out their own experiences.  I know that when I am in the market for a house in the future, one of the things I'm going to do is read through the blogs of agents that I am interested in.  Frankly, that tells me alot about them.

Bill, I think from what people write, you can learn more about their personality, their life perspective, and basically where they are coming from. And ALSO, if they can put two sentences together that make any sense!
