Lazy Dog

Thinking of the image in the summer of a dog lounging in the sun and taking a big old snooze made me think of the observation in life that, "People are lazy." I mean that in a kind way so let me explain.

Lazy DogThe sooner you understand this about human nature, the easier your life will be overall in all your relationships.

Take for example the remote control for your TV. Why was that invented, and why are they EVERYWHERE today? Laziness. I use that straightforward example to illustrate that it is too much trouble to walk to the TV and turn the channel knob (the old days) hence the invention of the remote. The world will never be the same.

The lesson to be learned is that people take the least path of resistance once they figure out it is good for them and move on. Use a calculator to do your square roots rather than tables or a slide rule. Drive a car to get somewhere rather than take a horse and buggy. Buy light bulbs for your house rather than put candles everywhere. It's just easier and you have a God given right to be lazy.

In the Real Estate field, once a client gets it that their ACE Realtor, ACE mortgage broker, ACE inspector, ACE stager, ACE whomever is going to make their life a whole lot easier, guess what? They are going to go with you. Be not only a person of great character, knowledge, and experience. Be a problem solver that allows a client to be lazy by using you. It's only human nature to find the path of least resistance. Let that path be through YOU!

Gary, you are right, the easier we make the transaction the more likely they are to stick with us.  We work so they don't have to, makes sense.

Gary,

Good point.  In general, people do try to find the easiest way to do things.  It is so much easier to stay with the business you are using than to go out and find a new one.

I think its funny how my kids will put so much energy into finding the remote rather than just changing the channel manually!

OK.... I have to go take a nap now.

Excellent insight, Gary.  One of our biggest selling points to prospective clients should be that they are in good hands.  Just kick back, relax, and let us do our thing!

Good perspective on this, Gary, and a creative way of making your point. Being a dog lover, this message will stick with me!

I like your thought about being a problem solver and letting them be lazy!  Good thought as always.

Laziness is so natural. In the terms we are discussing here, it's all good. That Sharpei does look like he's enjoying himself doesn't he??

Hi Gary, lazy buyers are fine. Sellers on the otherhand need to stay focused.

Gary, so true with the easiest route. I find this true in both agents and buyers. Just afraid to try some thing new. Great post!
