In this time of year between the NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl it dawned on me how much real estate is like the game of football. Most of all decisions have to be made and the football needs to be driven down the field. The ultimate destination: "to score!"
It's third and goal, and your play fails. Go for it or kick a field goal? Depends on time left in the game, your field goal kicker, the other team's defense. Take too long to decide you get a delay of game penalty. Back five yards. Gamble and go for the touchdown and you end up as the hero or the goat depending on outcome.
With real estate, the agent is the coach. They advise the client, who is the quarterback. The opposition is the forces in the market. The value of the coach (agent) really comes into play from experience, decision making ability, and just skill. The quarterback has their needs to get where they want to go but the coach ultimately pulls the strings (except for those renegade quarterbacks (buyers)).
In a game as complex and fun as football (real estate), always make sure you find a good coach to be on your team.

Enjoyed the analogy and I've enjoyed the recent games as well. While watching the Patriots the a couple of weeks ago, it occurred to me that real estate was very similar to that sport. I am ready to find some great quarterbacks and score. No fumbles.
Ryan: Scoring is everything, otherwise what is the point of the game? We all want results.
Irene: Dallas peaked too soon in November, but the NY Giants proved they have a great defense.
Donna: I like your thought on fumbles. Those are the agents that don't pay attention to details or are unorganized.
Kay: There are so many facets of football that relate to real estate and life. I like the clock ticking down which could be like sense of urgency. This is not baseball where we can play 27 innings into the wee hours of the morning. Except those houses that stay on the market over a year. What is fun about that??
