In real estate broker offices around the country these scenes take place too often. Oh, I am not making as much money as I used too. I need to go over to XYZ Company, because they have a better pay plan, better splits.
Oh Susie, I heard she's out of the biz now and went back to teaching. Sam, oh, he is selling cars now. Gloria, what you need to do is be on my big team as a buyers agent. That's where you need to park yourself to ride out this storm.
Or in corporate America. I love this company. I've been at this company 20 years. This is the best place to work. We all love it here. Don't you love it here too?
Folks, if some of these conversations don't quite resonate completely with you it is because they are not supposed to. YOU ARE NOT THEM. I am here to give you permission and to let you know, "That YOU are writing your own story." As in LIFE that is. Maybe you are a tree hugger corporate type wanting to stay in one place forever. That's ok, but that's not for everyone, maybe not for you.
The sooner you realize that your dreams are for you and you alone and stop living another's life, the better.
We only go round once on this journey so make YOUR mind up what you want to go after. Besides developing skills in areas you enjoy, PERSISTENCE is the key to making it happen. So with swirling winds all around you some days, keep your eye on the ball.
YOUR ball!!
It's your story to write.
Good luck.

Gary: It is crazy to live others dreams. You are so uniquely you, be the best you.
Marchel: I like your different drummer thought. From that I found this quote you might like to have:
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is
because he has a different drummer. Let him step to the music
which he hears, however measured or far away.
I'm glad you have your own internal compass Marchel. It is the mark of a very strong person.
Gary...Keeping in mind the story will end some day, we must remember how much we like happy endings. Not knowing when that will be it is up to us to make our "story" a good one on each and every page. Here's to many pages in your story.
Cheers from Lake Anna,
Kathleen
Kathleen: Great thought about not knowing when the last page will be written. Focusing on writing a page at a time, one day at a time is very insightful. I think too often people forget that we should have happy endings, even per page.
Linda: The pen is in our hand. Don't take another's pen for our story.
Your post are always so "real", that's the best way I know to say it. You are right...I'm living my life in a way that works for me.
Cynthia: Living life the way it works for you is a great description of real living, absolutely.
Julie: True, as Mother Teresa said we are pencils in God's hands. It is not all up to us you are right.
Carole: Don't you hate it when some parents tend to expect you to live some dream of theirs?
Mike: I try at these things! LOL.
Hi Gary,
You've made some good points on this one.
One thing I've noticed this year is the movement of agents from one office to another had magnified with the changes in the market the past 18 (or so) months. It's normal too see office hopping in the beginning of the years, yet this is the first time I can remember seeing so many "experienced" agents chainging offices. Guess it's the grass is greener theory.
Hi Pat: So nice to see you popping by again. I must admit you did a super job with these YouTubes: Beaches, Ghost, One Moment In Time, When You Believe - all GREAT ones. I loved those two movies as they had such feeling and depth to them. How you find SO MANY YouTubes I don't know? It must be a skill that lingers (your musical ability) from your singing days. Yes we are writing our own stories, parallel lives or whatever, and I like your thought that we are getting better. I really do think for both of us Pat, our best days lie ahead. Hey, what a great thing to look forward to,
