Take a Chill Pill

Tired KidDid you ever have one of those days where it ended where you were just exhausted? Couldn't figure out which way was up.

Had a woman Realtor tell me one time that in the middle of the negotation between a buyer and seller that is why the Realtor is there. They serve as a calming influence during emotional times. Her exact words were

WE ARE LIKE A BIG ASPIRIN

Never thought of myself like that but experiencing various stressful times as we all do from time to time I like to fall back on that old cliche when people get riled up a bit and advise they take deep breath and perhaps in their mind

             TAKE A CHILL PILL

You want to transform a possible suckiness situation in life into looking something like this

Bath

I think this could be described as one of those take me away Calgon moments.

The point is negativity can creep into your day at any point and even build to a crescendo point. Watch for this and defuse it by NOT reacting negatively back at it. Step away from it if you have to. Not always an easy thing to do like with raising screaming kids all around you. But we all need to get a handle on negativity and build our personal and business lives to mostly have positive surroundings. Hang around upbeat friends, be part of a team that pull for each other. Laugh alot.

Negativity is draining and too much of it can affect our health adversely. Have you smiled at someone today or uplifted another's spirit? In the grand maze of karma of the universe your positive energy will come back to you multiplied. May you find your Calgon moments each day so you may enjoy life to the fullest.

I agree that the realtor needs to be the calming voice in the sea of chaos.  Thanks for sharing!  :)

I am a pretty calm person by nature... but I seem to get others all upset.  But, I remain calm.

I've seen many "professionals" let their own emotions get the better of them to the detriment of the transaction. Love the Calgon take me away pic....makes me relax instantly :-)

GARY, When those moments happen I try not to call or email anyone until I have time to calm down.  I always try to surround myself with positive people but even then life does have its moments.

Gary, nothing like a hot bath, glass of wine, candles and the door locked to relax me. Seriously that's why we get paid the "big bucks" right? LOL

I guess everyone can relate to stress and needing to minimize it and escape. I think often you have to build little zones during your day that are like an oasis or a pit stop to get away from the noise and negativity. That's why the bathtub image I thought fit. Oh and yes, big glasses of wine work too : )

Laughing often is a must and so is smiling!  I've been told by a lot of people that I smile a lot :)  It's funny but smiling or not smiling for that matter can really affect someone's moods. I had one of those negative days yesterday and you are right, it can creep in and that can be dangerous.  Thanks so much for this post, it was good for me to read it today!!

I have a few negative people in my world.  I listen, cheer them up if I can, point out the positive side (there always is one) - if it doesn't work, exit stage left!  I won't allow people to pull me down.

I don't pay attention or listen to the negative people.

and to the tired and stressed out- I just smile and say "I understand"

Gary, is there some kind of short version of "Thank you again, Gary, for such a great post?"  It seems like I write the same thing each time.  You help to keep a bunch of us positive.  Your posts are like an immunization.

Gary, so true!  We are the voice of reason, the calming effect and the buffer to keep the negativity from the party that we represent.  Keep your head straight, take a few deep breathes and always smile!  Thanks for this great post Gary!

I have an image of myself, now, as a big pill with arms and legs.  Might just have to change my middle name to bayer!

Gary:  Sometimes I think some people use negativity because they are scared or maybe need some special attention and in those cases, a kind word, sympathetic ear is all that is needed to help that other person get beyond their negativity.  But I definitely walk away from those who just love to wallow in negativity.

Gary, super post. Keep the positiveness flowing and kick away the negativity!  Wonderful!

Patricia: Smiling is contagious.

Virginia: Run away from the grouches.

Carol: "I understand" is a great phrase. I'm going to use that one.

Mark: Thank you for your kind words. I like that immunization phrase. Cool.

Leesa: So we are the "bufferin" for those that would stress us.

Nancy: Very cool image!!

Donna: I have seen that too. People using negativity for attention. Maybe just talking to them will calm them down.

Marey: I'm sending positive waves your way....
