In looking at buyer's remorse, a common phase in the real estate purchasing process where for a brief moment of time, the buyer has doubts about what they are doing, it made me think of that show Fear Factor. You know, that's the one where the contestants are constantly asked to perform more and more challenging frightening assignments to be the last one standing and win the grand prize.
In life there are many things that can frighten us and I must add rightfully so. But we are implored in life to fear not. Easier said than done.
Just think in the employment world how a boss can hold a performance standard or sales number over your head, OR ELSE, you're fired!! Kind of affects your family's security. What about in the self-employment world? Don't make enough money, you don't eat, feed the family, and make those mortgage payments.
So fear can be real and IS real. You have to work through it. Talk with others what you are going through and what I've found when it just gets overwhelming at times
LAUGH ABOUT IT
If you don't think laughing about it can help, then take a quick gander at the clip below. Laughter which is a universal feeling among all cultures as is a smile, serves to break the tension. It lets each of us know we are in this together. All at times feel the fear. But you'll get through it. Just hang on for the ride.

I would be in a complete state of shock, and probably not able to move...
EVERYBODY loves it when the boss gets sick:) Wait a minute---I AM the boss:(
Kay: Thanks.
J: The show could gross you out I agree.
Kathy: Sorry, the show is intended to amaze you.
Charles: When the cat's away, the mice will play.
Mark: See how laughing breaks up the moment.
Colleen: An admission by the boss - GREAT!
Margaret: Those bosses just control too much of our lives, ya think?? : )
Tom: Glad you liked the clip. Hopefully more will see it or pass the YouTube link along. It's a riot. We all can so much relate to it.
Gary, I'm still stuck on the picture, that woman is nuts. Fear can conquer us in so many ways if you let it. We're suppose to go out with a group from Rodney Howard Brownes crusade tomorrow to witness and this is so out of both David's and my comfort zone, but we're going to feel the fear and do it anyway. I'l have to let you know how it goes.

Gary,
Where in the world did you get that photo? Amazing, and not just for the alligators. Imagine the pain associated with all those square inches of tatoo!

Fear is normal, buyer's remorse is normal. I let my clients know to expect it and be comforted by it. Then they can back up and truly assess what is occurring: is this just a normal gut check to overcome? or, is this a serious red flag that we need to address?
Great Post, great photo, great video, Thanks!
Hi Gary, great analogy. I learned from someone a good way to look at the word F E A R.

Expectations

It is a mind set and we can overcome it. I truly believe in FAITH too and when that " fear factor feeling " isn't there, then I know it must be the right decision or course of action I'm taking. A true sense of calm takes over and it's described as "the peace which transcends all understanding".
Congrats on the featured post! Have a great weekend!
It takes courage to overcome fear, and I think we can help our clients get past buyer's remorse by telling them to expect it. I also like to share some funny remorse stories with them. Laughter really is an effective cure!
Gary - Different people have different tolerance levels for fear. Some are able to face it and work through it, others can't. For me it's a matter of examining the risk level, possible outcomes and consequences.
I loved the video. Great post!
Carole: Laughing sure does break up the mood doesn't it?
Charlie: You're welcome.
Mary: The first step is always the hardest.
Laurie: Yep, buyer's remorse is a phase. It is a big investment.
Karen: You are right, faith conquers fear.
Lizette: Sounds like you are a master at getting through the fear.
Norma: Sharing our experiences definitely can put others at ease.
Tom: If the little reptiles starting nipping that would not be fun.
Marzena: Looking at the risk levels I agree would probably let you know whether you would try something or not.
Laura: Laughter is such a relief sometimes.
Great post. In eleven years of law enforcement, I never experienced the uneasiness of some of the situations I have dealt with as an agent!
Keep it up!
Bill: I know also some former Law Enforcement folks in real estate. You would think it would get easier?
Wayne: Knowledge conquers the fear of the unknown.
Christy: Eating all those weird bugs and cow intestines stuff definitely does not sound like fun.
