Why You Need To Belong To A Three Ring Circus

In the Real Estate profession as well as much of Corporate America there remain a handful of people, worker bees and leadership alike that just do not get it in life. They think life is all about work. That work is the be all and end all. How much production this week, this month, this year. In Realtors you know the type. Popcorn Realtors. The phone rings to show their listing across town and they drop everything no matter what else might be important and run over there and open the door.

http://www.gwoltal.myfastmail.com/files/Three%20Ring%20CircusCorporate types are no better with their 60 hour work weeks and skipping vacations to impress their bosses.

When you see these folks remind them that they are not part of the three ring circus. If they look at you like you are the clown, give them this brief tutorial.

You are supposed to be an integrated person with one part not getting out of balance with the others.

Your first ring is your mind. Developing mentally with reading, writing, studying, put into practice, improving, thinking, planning, directing, imagining, and speaking.

Your second ring is your body. The physical side of you. Your health, your exercise, dance, stretching, walking, running, screaming, singing, yawning, sleeping, weight lifting, swimming, tennis, golf, even exploring caves.

Finally we have your spirit. Your passion, your love, hugs, intimacy, conversation, strolls by the pond, nature, worship, candlelight, meditation, prayer, vacation, girls night out, encouragement, consoling, volunteering, even random acts of kindness.

Those out of balance seem to get stuck in their minds. They think of the importance of themselves and their work, and completely MISS the other two circles.

You don't need be a clown to be really good at the three rings which bring harmony to your life. You just need to be a juggler and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE "ALL" three areas. Then you can tell all your friends don't mind me I now belong to a three ring circus.

Gary,

I've written many posts about balance...I think it's a great and necessary goal...still not sure you can 'master' the technique!!! Good post! Thanks,   Fran

Balance is so very important. I would think that to be in control of one's life, one should be almost in perfect equilibrium.

Gary:  I believe the clown that's doing the juggling act is me!  Thanks for reminding me that I don't have to everything for everybody!!

Gary- I believe balance is what we all should be striving to get good at.  Life is short and no one ever said on their deathbed, "I wish I would have sold one more house back in '08."  All the best!

Gary~ I can totally relate!  It took me moving to Owensboro,KY recently to realize that there is more to life than having your own company in real estate!

I tell all my potential new agents - We have a priority of how things work in my office and if you can't live with it then another office would be a better fit.

First comes God

Then Family

Then Work

Gary, I got the "three-ring-circus" act down pat----just can't seem to keep track of the Ring-Master though:)

Fran: I agree that mastering Balance is tough. Sometimes you get two out of the three rings somewhat in balance and another you are not even paying attention too. We just must be aware where we are out of whack.

Lisa: If we are in equilibrium like you said we are firing on all cylinders.

Jan: Realtors among other professions I think sometimes are the master jugglers.

Kevin: I've heard that deathbed thought too and I think it is right on.

Bill: I'm always trying to put a new twist on things to make people think.

Vickie: Sometimes a more rural setting can give you a better perspective on your life. I am glad it is working for you.

Susan: Great priorities for you and your office.

Bart: Absolutely true and a good attitude!

Charles: Hopefully getting control of the Ringmaster whether it is your wife or you, will allow you to put the right amount of time into each of the rings.

Sometimes I think my entire life is a three ring circus- balancing kids, family, business, the gym, etc!  Balance is truly key.

Carol: Your life, mine, and many others I agree are a constant juggling act. We just have to be aware when we are dropping too many balls in one of the areas that we need to spend adequate time in.

HI Gary;

FAB POST; I know myself, I am sososo guilty of not practicing what I preach!  I am trying though; and constantly striving for the balance we all know is necessary for TRUE SUCCESS and SUCCESSFUL LEADERSHIP.  Love the color and icon representation you use in your posts; makes them FUN to read; Thanks Gary

Carole: You were actually one I was thinking about when I wrote this since you are highly trained in the mastery of balance of things in life.

Patti: At the center of balance is wholeness and wellness. And who wouldn't want that? As always, I appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you Gary for the good advice. Seldomly we fall out of our balance in life and suffer the consequece... I wrote something similar some time ago in regard to wholeness of our been: "Quality of your life is a function of the Quality of your choices..."

Your post is much better explained and make good sense.

Arina: I remember that excellent post you wrote about Quantum Leap Thinking. It was along the line of balance between having peace, adding positive energy to your life, and having a purpose. They used the circles to diagram this out with "the zone" in the middle where you are in harmony and have peak performance. I think we all want to feel like we are hitting on all cylinders. Some days we get way off track. I think the trick is to recognize this and reset ourselves. Finding trusted others like yourself to talk with and bounce ideas off of helps you get closer to what we all seek - serenity, contentment, and peace of mind.

Gary, sometimes it is so difficult to achieve this balance. Thank you for your words of wisdom. Lately I seem to be juggling more than usual. Today, is a good example: my Mom had emergency surgery in San Angelo so I am going there on Wednesday to relieve my sister for a few days, a very dear friend died on Friday and his funeral will be Thursday, my cousin's daughter is dying from a brain tumor in Oklahoma City. I want to be all three places but I can't so I am juggling. I will go to be with my Mother.

Becky: You have quite a lot going on. I feel for you. I hope your Mom does well with recovery in San Angelo. I've had some deaths around me of co-worker family members lately. Life goes on with the births, deaths, good days, problems for all of us. Hang in there, and you will be in my prayers.

Posted by Gary Woltal - Associate Broker REALTOR® Dallas Ft. Worth (Keller Williams Realty) about 1 year ago

Thank you Gary. I will be fine. I just want to be there for everyone and I don't seem to be able to do so. My prayers are with the familes of the one who is dying as well as the friend who died. It is so very difficult for them. My cousin's daughter is 21 and the young man who died has 9 and 13 year old children. Thank you for your prayers. They are very dear.

Hi Gary,

You pinpointed the truth!  We are whole people.  If one part of us gets out of balance, our whole lives are out of balance!

Posted by Dan Woodworth * Encouraging Communicator (The Connection) about 1 year ago

Dan: We are several parts but yet a whole that has to stay in balance.
