I know some of these photos have circulated around on the Internet but they arrived back in my InBox again today and I thought I would share with all the interior designers and painters within the group. These kind always have me tripping and I don't know if they are real or some kind of Photoshop illusion but if you were to do these in a house I KNOW your visitors would be tripping.
YOU GOTTA LOVE THIS ONE.
THIS IS A CEILING MURAL IN A SMOKER'S LOUNGE.
Now, imagine you are at a party. It's the tenth floor of a high rise building. And then you have to visit the bathroom. Let's say maybe you've had a drink or three.
YOU OPEN THE DOOR
NOW, REMEMBER
THE FLOOR IS JUST A PAINTED FLOOR.
KINDA TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY DOESN'T IT??
Would this mess up your mind? Would you be able to walk into this bathroom? The amazing power of paint and the mind!!!

the first pic is pretty creepy...definitely won't forget those works of art
Wow, those look so real! I don't think I would want to use that restroom.
Gary ~ Wow, those are something else! I would not be able to use that bathroom. I remember years ago going some place where you stood in a large room and they showed a film of a rollercoaster from the perspective of sitting in the seats. Just standing there with this film going, my stomach would drop when the rollercoaster was going down those big dips. Very weird how the mind works with this type of thing!
I suspect that if I opened that bathroom door and took a step in I would scream and grab on to something. Talk about an optical illusion. Of course I believe it is a great use of photoshop but you could take the picture and have it blown up a glue it to a large floor cloth canvas. Spread it out on your floor before your next party and wait for the reactions.
The smoker's ceiling is very appropriate. The bathroom/coffin one is a little scary - I don't think I could walk in there.
These are amazing, Gary, I want one in my house. I have only seen the street scenes.
Gary,
Too funny....I had to pull my husband away from the Cub game to show these to him. He thought they were worth it. I don't know if they are photo enhanced or not but what great concept.
Gary...
Years ago in a model apartment we had the small bedroom "upside down." You walked in on the ceiling, light fixture in the middle, and carpet and furniture was attached to the "floor" on the ceiling!
It was an attention getter, that's for sure!
Gary, the first picture is pretty thought provoking. Just imagine . . . we all think that is for someone else to think about. Especially when we are younger.
Kim: The first picture is a great anti-smoking mural.
Amy: That bathroom would be uncomfortable to say the least.
Kathy: I know what you are talking about with the roller coaster movement on the sceen. The IMAX theaters can make you dizzy and you are not even moving.
Cindy: Your idea would be great at a party.
Virginia: I have seen those illusions on the street scenes too - very weird.
Debbie: Definitely unusual.
Richard: Only thing is that would get old after the initial reaction.
Audrey: Maybe all smoking lounges ought to have it.
Gary, these pictures are awesome. I shared with my artist, Mike, and he loved them! Here's one for you. A men's room mural.
This is funny!
Susan: You probably are not going to believe this (maybe you are, now that you know me better) but I actually have that one in my collection. Only a WOMAN could post that one here though. I do not have your level of courage! That being said, this one would definitely cause me (or any man) to have the "weak bladder syndrome." Talk about "pressure to perform." YIKES!!! Great stuff. But you are making my blogs awfully popular now : ) See, all I needed was a great illustrator. You and Mike, double trouble!!
Whoa! These are just too real looking! I have to believe that they're a really good photoshop job, but they look great! Way too real for me!
Jim & Maria: They were way too real for me too.
Gary, these are very cool.....amazing in my opinion. I've watched these actually been painted on a television show - hard to believe, but very real. ;-)
GARY, These are way cool pics. Yep, I would totally freak out!!!
Make it a great week!
These are amazing! I am passing them on to a faux finish artist I know. She will love these murals!!
Whoever painted these is amazing, it would freak me out to try to use that bathroom!
Gary - Fun. Thanks for sharing. I guess this gives definition to making a lasting impression!
haha... leave it to Susan to go there... Hilarious. All three would make me do a double take.
Gary, those are awesome, that's talent at its best.
Thanks for sharing these Gary, I had never seen them before! That bathroom floor would freak me out!!!
Susan~ Love that photo. Will pass it onto my hubby. He will get a chuckle!
Gary ..pretty funny creations. I agree with Tony about the bathroom!
Gary,
These murals are great! Do you think the smokers would get the idea? LOL
Gary, I love the pics. Especially, the one in the smokers lounge. Do you think it might give smokers the incentive to stop smoking?
Gary...Love the pics...the get right to the point. I got a chuckle, thanks!
Wow - those are crazy! I would have anxiety attacks in any of the rooms that you pictured! Especially the grave one - YIKES!!!
I really think I would get dizzy in that bathroom. I know it is mind over matter but I think, in this case, matter would win!
I have seen some of those and always get a kick out of them! Thanks for posting.
Great Photos, wonderful use of imagery. I had a client that painted his kids college apartment floor like a basketball court, he figured they would ruin the carpet anyway.
Gary, this is too funny. I was laughing at the thought of having one too many and walking into that bathroom. Thanks for the laugh.
Trey: The bathroom is eerie.
Brigita: I hope the smokers get it.
Becky: I hope so.
William: Absolutely to the point.
Leesa: Yikes, for the grave!!!
Sharon: Matter wins, I agree.
Tori Lynn: They have been around awhile.
Karen: That's funny with the basketball court.
Michelle: After drinking, you'd think you were REALLY messed up with that floor.
Those were so neat, I don't know if I could use the bathroom-I hate hights!
Penny: I think the bathroom would make you wonder if you were going to fall through it.
Gary, those are fantastic. Thanks for sharing them.
Just a heads up. The bathroom photo is actually someone's Photoshop contest entry. Someone cropped the Worth1000.com information from the bottom of the photo (On the bottom of the photo, on the rim of the tub, you can see a white pixel or two from the "W"). You may want to check out Worth1000; much of what is circulated on the internet as photographs of real phenomena are wonderfully creative Photoshopped photos submitted to Worth1000 contests.

So this means that putting a register trademark etc on your photos is no protection!!
I had to look at the bathroom many times to see the man floating in space.
that's great.
Jim: You are welcome.
Allison: Thanks for the heads up. I thought these were probably Photoshop stuff not real architecture. Everyone knows everything here.
Virginia: Eerie stuff, I know.
The photo of the smoker's lounge may be real, but people are spreading around both photos, which therefore links them in people's minds.
By the way, I just saw an interior designer's website- a very serious one- with that same bathroom photo. He says it's a bathroom on the 10th floor of a highrise! Where could he have gotten such information, I wonder! The Worth1000.com information is clearly visible at the bottom of his photo yet he obviously did not visit the site - and he's an INTERIOR DESIGNER. It is very easy to fool us with faked images and captivating stories, isn't it?
Might want to check your info. on things like this. For full explanation, go to this url: http://www.hoax-slayer.com/bathroom-painted-floor.shtml
Another case of don't believe everything you see or read. :)
Also, watch out. You are infringing on an artist's copyrighted material, I'm sure. I'd take these off your website unless you have the author's/artist's permission to publish it on your website. Most of the pictures sent through emails are scanned from books originally and are, therefore, illegal. Don't be part of this by forwarding them on to others or by posting (publishing) them on your own website.
Allison: This started as a forwarded email kind of joke pictures that I forwarded on to the blog so more people knew about this one then I thought. There's a lot floating out there on the Internet. Thanks for the background.
Sharon: Good point. I usually do just original stuff but I thought this was fascinating from a humor perspective.
