Have you ever been hanging around people and looked around and wondered if any of these people were like "heroes" in your life?
THERE ARE HEROES IN YOUR LIFE.
No they don't have to wear capes and leap tall buildings at a single bound.
Heroes are more subtle than that. It's probably where we get that term unsung from. I have noticed that for me at least, my heroes are never drawing attention to themselves. My heroes make me laugh, make me cry, make me think, make me wonder where have they been my whole life?
My standard for being a hero is not like getting a Purple Heart or dying in combat.
I tend to think my heroes as little helpers, beautiful angels sent into my life.
Other helpers are just good people. The thing I find out about these people is they are just so good at giving. I spot them all the time.
So when you have a hard day, as we all inevitably do, just look around at those you have dubbed with your hero status. They will make you feel VERY, VERY good.
I am glad I have found heroes in my life and for my life. Do you know who your heroes are??
I'm telling you they are as close as your backyard or found in your computer. They are extremely good people. Their spirit is extraordinary.
Don't forget your heroes and in addition to telling them you love them all the time, drop in a comment that they are a hero to you. And watch that glow on their face go up another notch. They deserve it after all because
THEY ARE YOUR HEROES.
True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost. -- Arthur Ashe

Gary~ Did I ever tell you you're my hero? You and a few others that are here in the rain... I guess I should let them know too?
Gary--Everyday heros are my favorites too!
Hi Gary, You are constantly coming up with creativity! Not only do I vote you as The Poster Child, but The Hero for Active Rain!
Vickie: Thanks, you are too sweet.
Teri: Finding the everyday ones warms your heart, you are so right.
Carole: We're back to that no coincidence thing, aren't we? Very eerie stuff around you sometimes I agree.
Dan: You continue with your praise, too kind.
Gary, thanks for the reminder. It is easy to get caught up with all the trials and tribulations throughout the day ! They are so many heroes around ! My wife is my biggest hero ! After this, will take a break and give her a kiss !!!! Thanks for the reminder again !
Philadelphia Real Estate
Christopher: I'm glad your wife is your big hero. Look out, smackaroo coming from Chris !!!
I love the pics! I am fortunate enough to have many heros around me. I work with them, live with them, and speak with them all day! Lucky me!!!

Great message....thanks for sharing.
Gary,
Great inspirational post! My best hero is my husband. Your post reminded me to not let his hero status be unsung.
Sandy
Mel: As good as you are I am sure you are surrounded by heroes. Your family are certainly ones for you.

You are the Wind Beneath My Wings....You Are My Hero.... Gary, your inspirational posts help us fly a little higher everyday.
I really like pictures that you chose to go with this. The smiles and enthusiasm bubbling from each of these heros is well worth noticing.
Gary: Great photos here in this post! As for MY hero--that's SO easy: it's my hubby, of course!!
Michelle: Thank you for your compliment. I'll just be one of your many helpers in your life : )
Sondra: I must count you as a hero in my life with all the kindness you show me all the time. I have fun with pictures either I take or find. It is something like "knowing" this picture goes with these words. I love volunteering and in seeing others volunteer it is like seeing angels all around you. Heroes EVERYWHERE!! It is one of the most awesome feelings in the world. I'm glad you picked up on the smiles and enthusiasm. Those are people I like to be around. Like YOU!! ; )
Debe: Your hubby is a SUPER-hero, from what I have learned about him. You are very blessed as is he to have found YOU!
Gary~Yes, it is cold here in your shadow!
My children are my heros many times. You never know what it means to be unconditionally loved untill you've had a three year old. Mine is so sweet, and he constantly says "I love you Mommy!" You can't have a bad day after that happens!!!
Gary,
You sure have some great blogs, I really enjoy reading them. And the scarecrow blog, I love it!
Robert
Gary,
My friend you share your wisdom in some very well written posts and I always enjoy reading them for that purpose.
Don R.
Gary, great post! I appreciate the "Hero's" in my life and the ones who surround me every day here in The Rain.
I enjoyed reading the blog. Great pictures.
Pam: You make me laugh every day, cold in my shadow, too funny. Those Love You Mommys will keep you going for days. Know you are a hero to them too Pam.
Robert: Thanks on the reading. With the Scarecrow one, I was eliciting the silly stories we all have day to day.
Don: Thanks Don for your continued support. This one of course was to raise awareness of those special ones around us.
Duane: Me too, I'm with you on that one!!
Gita: Yes, the pictures were fun. Thanks for reading Gita.
Maybe part of the problem is we are looking for perfect heroes. I guess we could take a page out of Will Smith's new movie -- ain't no perfect heroes.
Kevin: That Arthur Ashe quote reminds me that heroes can just be the ordinary and the everyday kind. Good point that we can overlook them if we are looking off in the clouds for them.
Gary
Thanks for the inspiration and reminding us that our heroes don't have to have capes and millions of $$$.
James: It's the little guy and gal heroes we need to see, I agree.
Maybe I'm just special (haha) but I'm surrounded by hero's. My folks, our children and grandchildren, friends, colleagues, the kid across the street. I think they're everywhere for those who recognize them.
Gary, You're right: "... my heroes are never drawing attention to themselves." For me as well: the real heroes are those who quietly and unpretentiously touch my life... inspires me and change me to be a better person. Most of the time they are the little people with big spirit! You are one of them Gary!
The greatest Hero I have ever known...MY DAD!
The picture of the older lady in the red stripe shirt...I thought was my Grandmother at first!
Jesse: Your life sounds like mine. They are all around. We are lucky bud!! ; )
Arina: Thank you. Your pure heart inspires me all the time. You are definitely a hero to me my dear.
William: A Dad hero. What a deal. Grandmas are special to us while we have them with us.
Darn I was half way through my blog when it just went viral in its vista spin and disappeared.....too frustrating..espcially when my train of thought comes out just as i'm thinking.............i'm posting quick so it doesn't disappear and then 'i'll continue.....quick quick
its disapeared again, i'm so discouraged........are you still HERE........free for a phone call?
WHAT I DID MEAN TO SAY is that You are a hero to me of sorts!I understand that 'heroes' mean different things to different peolple at different times of need and at other time they're practical invisible and we don't even know they were there until they're gone..........the elusive here..............but we feel their presence sometimes not until they're already gone.......................................................
You're my hero here..........When I've had a migraine all day, should 23 houses............travelling a total of 4 hours to do the showings - squeezed in a quick appointment to see a specialist........feel my heart rushing because i probably have low blood sugar because I haven't eaten.....i have a conversaton while driving back..............and end up feel like someones pooked their finger all over me and im' filled with oowies........
hmmmm should this be a post.....I'm think yes ....i should stop now before i give it all away........
Hi Liz: Sounded like a tough day there for you. You are one of my heroes too with your kindness and detailed caring thoughts. Always on those tough days remember there's always tomorrow, another day, to get it right again. I hope you feel better. It sounds like it is inspiring you to write something.
Awhh thats sweet Gary.......another day another beginning right? :-)Thank you!
Gary - This is funny because I use this term alot. To the store clerk who is efficient when i am in a hurry, to the office secretary who saves me a few steps ina given day. My son, who saved me the trip out by stopping to get some milk...I always like to give my thanks and let people know that their small efforts have made them my hero for the day! People love to hear this this and are always willing to go the extra mile the next time!
Liz: My sleeping hours are like a roll of the dice. I should be up on a board in Vegas with odds for when I am awake or not : )
Carol: Letting people know how important they are to you solidifies the relationship. It gets like cement after that. I love strong bonds too. Not enough of them in the world. If you have many strong bonded people attached to you, you have built this incredibly strong support system.
yes i find my sleeping hit or miss too.....i wonder why..hmm..:-)
Liz: I blame the hit and miss sleeping on different activities each day, and each day being so different from each other. My passions in multiple directions and my running workout late into the evening oxygenating my brain sometimes keeps me WIDE awake. I know I'm strange, just don't let word get out. Oh, those 100,000 members and the public. Secret's out LOL.
