A Message In A Bottle for Hardworking Professionals

Message In BottleWith many in the housing sector working harder and harder each day for seemingly less results than years back, it does seem someone has to give them permission every once in a while to cut back a little and take a break.

You know why?

We All Deserve A Lazy Day !!

That being said, I am the official permission grantor if you needed one. Think of it like a message washed up in a bottle on the shore and lo and behold, what is that paper inside? Well lookey here. It is a note with YOUR name on it all rolled up nice and neat with a message written in fine penmanship and the bluest of blue inks. Funny how those things travel thousands of miles across the ocean from some tropical paradise straight to YOU. Just to deliver a message about rest.

Lazy Day

I can't think of a better symbol for taking a Lazy Day off than the hammock. I know the cooler weather is near upon us in many parts of the country but the image is still the same.

Catch your breath every once in awhile and stop being so intense about everything. If it means going for a stroll around the block and trying to capture the season changing in the fall then do that. If it means blowing off the afternoon and seeing a movie by yourself, or with children, or with friends do that.

Just remember, whatever it is, we all deserve a lazy day now and then.

Gary, thanks, I'm going to save my "pass" for a snowy day and stay inside by the fireplace.

Maria: A snowy day inside by the fireplace works for me too!! Great image.

It also goes back to that "sharpening your saw" thing.  It's hard to cut wood (make deals happen) when your saw (brain) is dull! :)

I need a REAL lazy day. My last lazy day wound up to be a 14 hour ordeal!

I have not taken a nap in over 20 years...if I do, somone better call a doctor.  My best kind of lazy day is "shopping" or working outside.  :)

Gary - what appropriate timing for your post. I'm lazing at the Tradewinds Resort on St Pete Beach with my husband and we're out here playing tourist for the weekend (love that it's only 10 minutes from home).

I couldn't agree more!  You are so right.  We do need to take a deep breath and relax every now and then.  It makes you stronger when your mind is cleared.

It's a Good Life!

Gary, I could HEAR the song while reading the post :)  We all need a little time off and it does wonders for our bodies and souls.  It's wonderful to be diligent about work but also about PLAY.  And it's way too cold up here for a hammock---brrrrr.

Gary,

Thank you for being the grantor !  Stephanie and I plan on relaxing one of the two weekend days - saturday or sunday - no open houses... no appointments yet !!!  We need to relax a little : )

Gary-You really told the truth here. I really need a rest day and plan on having one soon. I thought I could get some today, but too much started happening that needed my attention.  So......maybe in the near future, I will just say don't call me, I will call you and turn my cell phone off. LOL  Good blog.

Wow, Gary!  How'd you know I'm way overdue for a mental health day?  LOL  Lazy days have been fewer and further between lately, and I'm tired!

Posted by Carol Smith (Concept Builders/Shamrock Valley) about 1 year ago

Amen. I try really hard to NOT make any appointments on Sundays. Sometimes if my family's off doing other things I'll hit open houses of other agents, but for the most part that's my day of rest/relaxation ... and laundry. Does that count?

I rarely take a day off if it means I have to stay away from my computer. Even today when I didn't need to get up early, I was awake by 6:45 then got up to make coffee and let Chanel out. So much for sleeping in!

Hi Shannon: Sharpening the saw, one of the seven habits of highly effective people. Very good.

Richard: That sounds like those vacation ordeals I have been on every now and then.

Ken: I am a calm person, good guess.

Ruthman: Shop till you drop or work outside.

Sharon Simms: Enjoy that Tradewinds with you and your husband. Great stuff!!

Fran: A clear mind is great for relaxation.

Carole: No NY hammocks this time of year. Just snuggle inside or go out to a show.

Christopher: Enjoy at least one of the weekend days off.

Hi Pat Preston: We all have those crazy days now enjoy a lazy day yourself with no all nighters.

Laura: Sooner rather than later.

Carol: Mental Health days are totally fine. Enjoy the time.

Erica: Making time for Sundays off is good.

Hi Lizette: Do whatever feels right as it is ok.

Hello Joan: Good for you on taking time when you need it.

Sharon Richards: Recharge. That is what it is all about.

Gary, you're preaching to the choir here. Nearing the half century mark, I've never missed a year where we have treked to a sandy DelMarVa beach,... well, until recent. It has been over two years and I desperately need some salty sand between my toes. Not knocking the walk around the block, but I don't think that will even begin to scratch that itch.

I love lazy days Gary.  Sometimes, the only truly, truly lazy days are bad cold days because you don't need to feel guilty for laying around in your pj's all day, sipping soup and moaning about life!  I am insufferable when I am sick because I am a whiner.  That way I see it, if you can't whine about it, why bother to be sick!
