I find in the world, especially in today's tough real estate market, hard times financial market, and uncertain political times people just need a little "hope." It's all it really takes. I try to be Mr. Reminder man out there to them and tell them
You Really Can Get Better Over Time.
Think of all the improvements you may want to make in your life. Maybe something as simple as cleaning your desk. How about starting that exercise program? Spending more time with family. You come up with one, two or three things you've put off that need attention. It really comes down to focus and putting your energy towards it. Life will ALWAYS have its ups and downs along the journey. You carry your umbrella with you to shield yourself from the new unexpected things that pelt you. But how do you get that mound of laundry off the top of the dryer? Focus and energy. You then inherently are BETTER for completing the task. Something else happens too. YOU feel better. So cut yourself some slack about not tackling all 100 projects in your mind and just work on a small handful.
You really can get better over time. The secret to it is YOU HAVE TO WANT TO and then go out and EXECUTE!!!

Thanks for the post. We all need a little inspiration at one time or another.
Hi GARY, I FIND THAT IMPROVEMENTS WORK OUT BETTER FOR ME IF I WORK ON ONE IMPROVEMENT AT A TIME.
I have the tendency to juggle about a billion things at once, today I will focus on getting the pile of cloths from on top of the dryer. Thanks for adding to my list man. Take care.
Gary...Sometimes our improvements may seam trivial to us, but to others they could be huge. Not all improvements take a lot of work. Many times it's the little things that mean the most!
Gary: Getting to things we put off is definitely something that can make you feel better. Yesterday, I spent about 20 minutes at my sewing machine mending three different items that had been sitting on that machine for well over a year. What a great feeling that I finally got to it. Turned a mediocre day into a great one.
Gary,
If everyone 'bloomed where they're planted' and improved their own little corner of the world, the world would be a grander place!!! Thanks, Joe, The Plumber
Gary- Today, it's rainy and cold, in Westport, so I decided to work from home. Now you've challenged me to tackle the laundry, just when I was considering wrapping myself in a blanket and watching TV. I'll think about it, Marilyn "on the beach" Katz
Gary, one bite at a time and then all of a sudden you are on your way!
Good post.
Bo
Gary,
That's a great concept. An important component in improving yourself is believing in your ability to achieve bigger and better things. It may take time but it's there.
Gary--My mom used to always say things will be better in the morning...most things are better if given time. Sometimes it just takes longer than others.
Gary, Thanks for the reminder. I have to do a few chores around the house today , that I had put off for a rainy day.
It's the downs that really set us back however. Getting a series of small projects done will greatly take off stress that had accumulated, much greater so then 1 large project.
HI GARY!
I wrote something similar to that, but I said pull the trigger! We know what to do we just have to execute!
Thank so much for all your wisdom,
Gary - Thanks for this reminder to stop trying to do 100 things at once. I actually imagining how good that would feel and feeling like a big weight was taken off my shoulders. Now, if I can only prioritize!
Brian: You are welcome.
Eunice: One improvement at a time probably is best.
J L: A billion and one things now!! : )
William: Little improvements can mean a lot to others you are right.
Chris Ann: Great sewing day. I will send you some shirts where the button popped off : )
Fran: Bloom where you are planted is great advice.
Marilyn: I think you on the beach is good but if you're inside with the rain, doing the laundry aint half bad either.
Hello Pat: Finally you are getting some rest from the writing of blogs. Good for you. I like that rubber band technique. Very good as a reminder for bad habits.
Hi Bo: Inch by inch, it is a cinch!!!
Hey Esko: Just give it time. So true.
Hi Teri: You are right. We have to see things through.
Gita: Got to get them chores done unfortunately.
Castellum: We have to ride out the downs with the "little victories."
Hi Yvette: Pulling the trigger is a good phrase. Get it done.
Hi Carol: Prioritize and knock it down to five!!
Gary, How true that is... "time" is the healer. Whith a good attitude and patience thing always change for better... Hopefully.
That 2 in the morning wake up with feelings of overwhelming panic "what have I done?" Well, I just remind myself that I take something toward the goal each day and complete it and eventually the baby steps move me in the direction I need to go. It helps me alot. Until recently I could have told you that and not experienced it really. Lately I am internalizing it and feel quite a bit more in control. Thanks for letting me articulate.
Have you ever heard somebody say, "I have too much fun in my life? Please take away the pain of all this joy?" It's the downs, the dips and the falls that do people in. If I'm gonig to get depressed about something, I go all out -- I cry and sob and work myself into such a lather that I start to laugh because it's all so silly after a while. Nothing keeps me down for very long this way.
Hi Arina: Patience and time and you can get to "better." I am convinced of it.
Hi Terrylynn: Baby steps are key in accomplishing the overwhelming or daunting task, Glad you are on the way with this idea.
Hi Elizabeth: I very much like that laughing in the face of adversity philosophy. I do that too. Very effective.
Gary-Wonderful words of inspiration. You can do any thing if you really WANT to. Great blog.
