If there's one thing I could stamp out in life (besides poverty) it would be frustration. With gloomy skies seeming to be around housing industry and financial workers daily these days, the frustration of paying bills and managing finances just never goes away. Options need to be developed of course, maybe short term working in areas that aren't your specialty but never lose sight of getting back on track and always trying to be good at
Playing Your Own Tune!!
This is listening to your inner voice. Doing what you were born to do. Loving your work so you lose track of time with it. You are amazed people pay you to do this. Having passion. Not a career, but a vocation.
Your inner voice message may change as you get older shifting from success to significance.
That is ok too. But strive to listen to it. It will signal you. It really signals you when your core says something is wrong. You may have those sick and tired of being sick and tired thoughts. You may have this weird technique like I do, that you know in life what you "Don't" want. For example I steered myself into jobs with being shackled to a desk many years ago, and it was so NOT me. I wanted to go out in the world and set up meetings, have lunch with people, drive deals home. Shackled at the desk for me at least was suffocating.
Another technique to zero in on whom you are, and what tune you are "supposed" to be playing is taking personality tests like Meyers-Briggs and the DISC model. You can search them out online. I have found them suprisingly to be amazingly accurate. You'll learn a lot by reading the assessment. It will be an ah-hah moment where you will step back and say that is me.
Look at celebrities. Who are you like? I see myself as Richard Branson of Virgin Atlantic Airways floating hot air balloons over the Atlantic. Now if I only had his money. I am working on it.
Listening to your inner voice and playing YOUR tune extends to our work, the relationships we select, and to the life we design. Be a little patient if it all doesn't add up for you in one week. But don't take a lifetime to figure out who you are or the next version of yourself you want to be in a new life. Where you want to live and who you want to be around and what you are doing should come to you sooner rather than later. Go for it.
In a span of 10 to 15 years you can go from rags to riches and even back to rags again. So do not be disheartened where you are at exactly at this moment in time. It is much more important to know exactly WHO you are, what you like, what makes YOU, YOU, and get out there and play that tune of yours. Afterall, that's what in the end will make you the most happy. And isn't being happy what will make you the best YOU?
So refreshing to hear, and a must do! I adore Richard Branson and his work ethic, but also his look on life. It is times like these that we really need to focus!

Discovering who we are and what our special 'tune' is, is not always the easiest thing to do but so necessary if one is to be happy in life. You've given such an excellent path for finding that tune....now all we have to do is follow it.

Gary, I was just writing thinking about you! I too would suffocate behind a desk....tried it YEARS ago and could not do it another day! I knew when I was in my early 20's that I wanted to sell homes. Here I am, never tiring of it. Each day is a new adventure and I LOVE it. I truly feel it is in my blood.
As for you being Richard Branson, really? Do you remember his Reality show he had a few years back? He had his participants doing some pretty scary stunts. If anyone deserves his fortune, it is you!

Gary - I never liked being shackled to my desk either. And, lately i have become spoiled to working from the comforts of my home and being in control of my schedule and personal time. I could never go back to the corporate world!
Gary, After years of jobs I wasn't happy in, I found exactly what I wanted to do...and wouldn't have missed the adventures (or my clients) for the world. As Carol mentioned, I hated the corporate world....and some very unkind bosses along the way! You can truly TELL when someone just loves what they do--it shines through.
Gary- I was just at a meeting where the disc assessment came up. I am looking into it and will be figuring out who I am.

Absolutely. The happiest people I know are full of life and passion for what they do and the world around them. Who doesn't want to be happy?
Those that love what they do don't count minutes, hours or days, they don't count days off and don't worry about lunch hour or break time. They just work and thrive on their work, it becomes their joy. We are so lucky to be in this honorable profession. I am blessed.
Good morning kind "sir" I so adore the pic of the little guy in the tub. So precious and so sweet at that tender age. This is such a wonderful post to wake up to. I think if I could wipe out one thing in this world it would be "hate" I have read extensively this "Disc" model of who we are. I do know myself pretty well and for before or worse I very much fall into the "S" category. Being "myself" as a "S" is sometimes challenging and I have been known to have that big"S" on my forehead. But the core of who I am is a servant of the Lord. While I'm am prone to be a people pleaser who abhorrs conflict and doesn't like to like to think of herself as having that big "S'' tattooed on her forehead. That has happened to this "fan" more than once in life. It does make me sad when people take advantage of this personality weakness of mine, so I try my best to be more the servant of the Lord first and to people second. I attended a conference many years ago on this subject and it was indeed very accurate. I even have the T-shirt that says I'm a "S" more or less. I hope that makes your mystery fan a little less mysterious to you. But being a "S" I am also shy so for now, I have to remain a "S"ecret admirer of yours at least online. Maybe over the course of time of chatting with you I will venture an e-mail to you, if that would be OK with you or if that would be something you would like. You are quiet inspiration to me and if I may be a little bold. I would so that you would fall in two categories maybe a "C" and a "I" as you are definitely a "I"nspiration to so many and a "C" in that you are very consistent in the messages that you send to all your readers. Gary: Just imagine how much stress would be reduced if we could stamp out frustration. At least, we do have the power to control our reaction to so many pressures but not alwalys an easy thing to do. I've been marching to my own beat for as long as I can remember, and I think that is the cause of most of my wife's frustration.

Hey there s. lee p. Getting rid of hate and evil and we'd almost be back to the Garden of Eden. If you are a S with the DISC model you are tuned well into people. It is a strength. I actually am about half D and half I. S and C I am not as good at. Email or phone works as well as blog comments. Don't be shy, No need to call me "sir" all the time LOL. I'm not that old yet. I know it is respectful but I'm used to being walked on : ) I remember when I was like 21 and some waitress called me sir, I felt so old. Unless you are a 10 yr old, we are all equals here.
